Finally!

I was getting really frustrated there for a couple of weeks! All I wanted this morning was to be under what I've been for the past 2-3 weeks. Turns out I lost 2.8 pounds! I needed that to keep going!!

Gotta run to get to yogalates on time!

another weekend

Friday: The day time was good, I had intentions of working out before work since I didn't work out Thursday morning, but woke up with a migraine and just couldn't do it. I knew we were going to a concert with Jay and Becky so I fully planned on using some flex points that night. We went to leeann chin for dinner, and then had some beers at the concert. I was feeling ok with myself even when we went to the vad after and kept drinking, I kept telling myself, "It's one night, it's ok." Then someone came up with the idea of going to taco bell after the vad. I had a nacho's bell grande and a bean burritto. I knew this wasn't a good choice, but for some reason did it anyways.

Saturday: Got up and went to class, got home and tracked all the points I had eaten the night before. Not pretty. The taco bell ALONE was 25 points. That is how many points I'm supposed to have in one day...sick...but it happened and now there's nothing I can do about it but work that much harder the rest of the week until weigh in. We walked around the mall of america with art and jana for about 2 hours in the afternoon and went out for dinner afterwards. We ended up going to grumpy's and I had a southwest chicken salad and a cup of wild rice soup.

Sunday: Got up and went to the gym, got my cardio in. Took mom and nana to olive garden for lunch for nana's birthday. I had linguini marinara with whole wheat linguini (and only ate half). Had a lot of salad. Also, had 4 bread sticks :(.
However, I am sitting at home and refusing to go meet up with nic and the family for the sake of not drinking my points away. I had soup, peas, fruit, and cottage cheese for dinner and stayed right on track with points for the day.

Overall not a HORRIBLE weekend. Hoping to have finally lost some weight again this week. We will see...

Meh...

Well I said I would be happy as long as I didn't gain any weight so I suppose I have to be happy today. I stayed at where I was last week. It's discouraging but when I really think about how bad this last weekend was, I truly am greatful that I didn't gain anything. Just going to have to keep workin' on it and hope for better results next week!

Week 5

Tomorrow morning is weigh-in. I'm totally up in the air about this one. On the one hand I feel like I totally failed this weekend and ate lots of bad shit. On the other hand I feel like I've been working really hard this week and feel like I could redeam myself. Honestly, after the weekend I had I'll be happy as long as I don't gain.

We'll see what happens in the morning!

So bad

This weekend sucked. I mean SUCKED. Totally my fault too. I knew that Saturday wasn't going to be a good day (nana's b-day party and october fest at night) but it actually ended up being the best day of all....

Friday was supposed to be a nice evening at home...but the Scharber's had other plans, so instead of having baked mac and cheese for dinner and watching a movie at home I had about 8-10 beers for dinner and topped it off with a ham and cheese omelette at Perkins at around 11:00. Great...should have stuck to my guns and gone home to make dinner like I said I was going to.

All night Friday I kept saying how I was going to be so hung over and there was no way I was going to make it to power pump the next morning. Well I DID go to power pump...had to show that late night omelette who's boss! Then it was over to mom's for some chicken noodle soup before heading down to the farm. Last year they had lasagna for lunch down there but this year it was shredded beef sandwiches so it wasn't SO bad, and we didn't end up going to October Fest, we went to green mill where I tried yet another YUMMY option from their eating fit menu (seriously, best place to eat out when you're on a diet). Then we just went over to Nikita's house and hung out.

Yesterday was a shitty day for it's own reasons, then to add to it I decided I needed to stuff my face full of food. We went to lunch with Nikita (mistake number 1) and ordered nachos (mistake number 2). Then when I got home from lunch and shopping I decided I needed to have snacks (which I wasn't hungry for, mistake number 3). The one upside to the day was that I did go work out, I was quite proud of myself. We both decided we weren't hungry for dinner, then Nic decided he was hungry for dinner and made a pizza (which I ate two slices of, mistake number 4). Then we went over to my mom's and I decided popcorn was in order (seriously?! WTF if wrong with me??? Mistake number 5).

So basically today I'm trying to focus on the fact that today is a new day, this week is a new week. No excuses, I did what I did and now I have to get over it and get back on track.

Thursday

Well I feel a little better today, I weighed myself this morning and I was down 1 pound exactly to what I weighed LAST Wednesday, which is fine by me.
Last night I went to the Wild game and was not looking forward to eating all that bad food but it turns out we had club level tickets so there was an actual sit down resturaunt there. I had a greek salad wrap and salad. I did treat myself to a little chocolate soft serve however...

Plateau

Well it was bound to happen soon...
The dreaded plateau.
I gained 0.2 pounds this week.

I'm trying not to get too discouraged, but it's hard not to. I worked hard this week, and looking at it day by day this week looks a lot like last week, and last week I lost 4 pounds.

Who knows, it happens, and I've still lost over 8 pounds in four weeks so I'm still proud of what I did. I'm just nervous because I know this weekend is not going to be good. I have nana's 95th birthday on Saturday AND we're going to Oktober fest that night. I guess the good thing is that it's all on the same day so it'll be one day and it's done.

We'll see what happens....

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Wow!

So this morning was my weigh in and I always get kind of nervous right before.  This week I told myself that I just wanted to lose at least 1 pound, after losing almost 4 last week I didn't want to get my hopes too high, especially because I didn't have the greatest weekend.

I told myself right before weigh in that no matter what the scale said I could tell I was doing good because of those pants that I was wearing yesterday (by the way, they were practically falling off of me by the end of the day, next time a belt is definitely needed).

So I got on the scale and couldn't believe my eyes...I lost 4 pounds!!!! Holy crap!!! All of this hard work is paying off, it makes it so worth working out 6 days a week and I know that that combined with staying on plan with weight watchers is what is really making the difference.

I'm getting my hair done tonight which I'm considering kind of a reward for doing so well the last couple of weeks.

Weekend update and other stuff

So this weekend was pretty good. I used about 9 of my "flex points" for the week, which isn't bad considering that I get 35 of them, but I realized that the only reason I used any of them was because I had a few beers both Friday and Saturday night. But, the past is the past and I feel like I did really good the rest of the weekend. Friday night we had Chipotle for dinner, and I planned it into my day so food wise I didn't over eat or anything. Saturday I mad Baked Ziti for dinner which was really good (and which we're STILL eating). And Sunday I had leftover Ziti for dinner again.

Exciting news of the day...I put on some pants (in my fat size) that I bought at turn style about a month ago and they're too big for me! Usually this would almost bum me out since I just bought them and have only worn them twice...but I'm not because I only paid like $5 for them and now I can just bring them back in and get some more money on my account that can use to buy smaller sizes!

Friday, September 19, 2008

I cheated a little....

...and got on the scale again today... I don't know what provoked it, I think it's that I've always wondered what effect "weigh in day" has on my brain. Like, I know Wednesday is the day I have to get on the scale so I'm super good Monday and Tuesday, then sometimes am a little more relaxed Wednesday, Thursday. So I thought it would be a good self esteem boost to get on the scale this morning and see that I've either maintained since Wednesday, or even lost a tiny bit. Well I was SHOCKED to see that I had actually lost another 2.8 pounds! What?! For real...

Now the only thing I'm worried about is getting on the scale next Wednesday and seeing a number higher than I did today...however I think this will help motivate me to be extra careful this weekend so that I can at least maintain where I'm at today until Wednesday!

This weekend should be fun. Fridays we've decided are our night to eat out because of two reasons:
1) The last thing I want to do after work on Friday is cook.
2) We've decided we're going to try REALLY hard to only eat one meal out each weekend.

So tonight we're doing Chipotle. I've already figured the points into my point tracker. After dinner we're headed out to the drive in to see House Bunny which I've heard is pretty funny. Nic brought up something I wasn't thinking about though this morning when he said, "What kind of snacks are we going to bring to the movie?" Shit...I didn't figure that into my plan... Well I'll for sure pop some popcorn at home before we leave and bring that, and stop somewhere and get a diet 7up to drink. I'm not going to starve myself at work just so I can have a snack at the movie so depending on where I'm at points wise after dinner we'll see if I get any more treats during the movie.

Tomorrow it's power pump at 9:30 then probably off to the rummage sale with my mom in the afternoon. I'm making baked ziti for dinner tomorrow night which I'm super excited about.

Crazy Morning!

So today was yogalates at 6:30...My alarm was set for 5:40 (giving me ample time to hit snooze right?) So the last thing I remember is my alarm going off and me looking at the clock (6:01...plenty of time to hit snooze one more time, then it will be 6:10 and I'll have plenty of time to get up, eat a banana, and get out the door). So then next thing I know I look at the clock and it's 6:25!!!!! Holy shit!!!!! So I jump out of bed (literally) and get dressed, run upstairs to get a banana and think to myself, oh it's wednesday and I'm not leaving this house until I weigh myself. So I run to the bathroom and get on the scale. I lost 3.8 pounds!!!!! WAHOOOOOO!!! Excellent. Ok enough celebration, off to class! I got there right at 6:30 (pretty impressive if you ask me).

So now I'm sitting at work, finally able to relax and be proud of myself! The one thing I will not let happen this week is cocky-ness. I've had this happen before where I think "wow, I worked my ass off and lost X amount of pounds, I can half-ass it this week and still lose some weight". Why not try to work even harder this week and lose the same amount?!

Biggest loser started last night which is usually a huge motivation for me, hopefully it will be this time around. The first few weeks do kind of suck with how much weight these people are losing (24 pounds in one week? Hellooooo... that's more than I'm even thinking of losing). But I know that it's because they are SO big, and their bodies are going through a MAJOR change.

Well enough of this, time to work!

Week 2

So the second week is coming to an end and I thought I'd check in.  I am actually really excited to weigh in tomorrow, I feel like I've been doing pretty good.   I have worked out six of the past seven days and I tried REALLY hard to stay on track this weekend.  I'm hoping that all of my hard work has paid off.

On another note, the biggest loser started tonight which I hope will be another motivation for me.

I'll check in tomorrow!

Weekend success!

So this weekend has continuted to be pretty good! Yesterday I got up and went to my work out class, which kicked my butt for the second week in a row! Then I went to work for two hours, then right over to Josh's house for family time. I did not eat good food, but I am proud of myself for not stuffing myself full. I had one small piece of lasagna, a couple pieces of bread, and one small piece of cake for dessert. The nice thing is that we ate around 2:30 so I wasn't hungry for dinner. That made it easier to justify eating all those points, in reality I was eating two meals. We went to a movie later and I had popcorn with no butter or salt and a diet 7 up to drink.

Today I was planning on just laying around so that I wouldn't be tempted to eat bad, but then Becky asked if I wanted olive garden for lunch. I decided I would because I would just have something that I know isn't too bad for me (and only eat half) and then I can have my left over mexican chicken for dinner.

Oh, and I got up and worked out first thing this morning so I couldn't avoid it the rest of the day!

All in all it's been a pretty good weekened!

Good day

So it ended up being a good night. I had a half a california club for dinner (with no bacon, mayo, or cheese) and nic's tomato salad (basically 6 cherry tomatos). I even had enough points to have two beers at the vad. It was a good day. Stayed right on track with points, just didnt have many veggies or dairy.

Well gotta get to bed, 9:30 weight training tomorrow!

The good and the bad

Well today is a good day and a bad day all wrapped up in one.

It's shitty because of the fact that it's September 12...two years ago today my life changed forever when my dad had a brain bleed that put him in the hospital. Two years ago today my care-free life came to an end. So it's just overall a shitty day...but I don't like to dwell and I know that everything happens for a reason and I know that my dad is still very much with me. It still blows.

Anyways, I've also been very proud of myself this week when it comes to the weight watchers issue. I have stayed on track all week and fought off many temptations today alone. I was planning on going to subway for lunch today and when ang wanted to go somewhere else I held strong and said no, I'm going to subway. So that was good. Then when we were out running errands after lunch she went to culver's to get a lemon ice but I declined. Yay for me again! Tonight we're meeting Jana, Art, Beck, and Jay at TGI Friday's for dinner, I have some healthy-ish options that I've planned for an can have, so that will be fun (I think beer is a no no tonight though, which might be kind of hard, but easier when Jana is there, because I feel bad when everyone gets to enjoy but her).

Tomorrow is going to be the bad day...but hopefully not TOO bad. I start with weight training class at 9:30 (interested to see how this goes with the real teacher), then to work for a couple of hours. Then we're going to Josh's house for Lasagna (made my nic's mom...not going to be low fat what-so-ever) and cake...again, no low fat here. The only plus side to this is that it's going to serve as lunch AND dinner, so hopefully the points wont completely be shot.

Good Day!

Today was a great day.  I went to yogalates and it went really well.  We went to Panera for lunch and I had the pick two with low fat chicken noodle soup (2 points) 1/2 a mediteranian sandwich (6 points) and an apple (1 point) then we walked around the mall for the rest of the lunch break (ok not an intense work out, but better than sitting on my ass right?).

Then Derek brought chips and guac over from chipotle and I wasn't even tempted to have any.

I went to Turn Style tonight to try and find one or two more pairs of "fat pants" no luck.. did reward myself with a work shirt and a comfy shirt for my loss this week.  I still haven't decided how I'm going to work this rewards system.  I definitely think I want to keep up with the Turn style thing, because I know I'm not spending much money.  I think I'm either going to shoot for every other week of a loss (so approximately every two weeks) or every two or three pounds.  I also don't know what I'm going to do as far as like a dollar amount to spend or number of pieces to buy.  We'll see.

Moment of truth

Well it's Wednesday morning which means two things:
1) I'm up WAY earlier than I'm used to (yogalates starts at 6:30)
and
2)Weigh in day....

So, on weight watchers I set my original weight as 190 because that's what I weighed last week, before I started paying attention.   I also weighed myself on Sunday (right before I started) and I was at 191.8.  So this week I didn't know what to expect because:
1) I have only been doing this for two days
and
2) It's "that" time of month...so I'm feeling rather bloated.

So I figured that any loss would be great.  I got on the scale and I was 189.6.  So officially on weight watchers I only lost .4 pounds (a loss none the less) but since Sunday I've lost about 1.2 pounds.  Either way I think that's pretty good for only being back on track for 2 days.  I'm pretty encouraged.

On another note...I want to set up some sort of rewards system for myself to keep me motivated.  I've recently discovered the beauty of Turn Style consignment store.  I took some stuff there towards the beginning of the summer and ended up making about $30 on the stuff I brought in.  At first I was planning on just picking up checks from them and thought I'd never actually buy anything there, but then I realized that they usually have some pretty nice stuff and pretty good deals, deals made even better by the fact that they occasionally send out coupons and the fact that I can use the credit on my account towards clothes (so far I've gotten a skirt, a pair of Gap pants, and a pair of nine west shoes and have paid a total of $5.55 for all of it).  I need some fall clothes to get me through the next couple of months until my clothes from last year start to fit me better again, so I figured it won't be too expensive to reward myself with a trip to the store with every loss I see on the scale!

Gotta run, yogalates starts soon!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

So far...

So good!  I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning for sure (since that's when I step on the scale) but I feel like I've been doing good the last two days.  Yesterday I felt better than I did today, less hungry that is.  But I also just realized that  I worked out this morning and I didn't do that yesterday morning.  So I went to the gym and did a half hour of the eliptical today and tomorrow I have yogalates in the morning!  Went shopping for food last night and got all sorts of yummy healthier snacks!  I'm hoping this will not only help me lose pounds, but save some money as well.  The only thing that sucks about eating lunch at work is that it cuts my lunch break way down, I don't have anything to do besides eat so I just start working again.  Also, it is kind of nice to get out of the office in the middle of the day.  Oh well, it's worth it!

Heading to Turn Style again towards the end of this week to turn in some more clothes that I don't wear and hopefully find another pair of "fat pants" to tide me over until my pants fit me better (and a couple of fall/winter shirts since apparently fall has decided to make an entrance early this year...)

I will for sure check in tomorrow after the weigh in!

Sunday, September 7, 2008

Yo yo

The yo yo has once again gotten the better of me. So here I am again, back on the wagon....

Tomorrow starts day one of weight watchers...again...

I'm trying not to beat myself up about it too much, I let it happen, I knew what I was doing to myself. It just really sucks realizing that I'm ALWAYS going to have to watch what I eat.

This time around I'm getting more serious about working out. I've been REALLY lazy the last couple of months about going to the gym...I go to get the discount, but I don't really do anything when I'm there. This fall Tovah convinced me to sign up for some group classes, which is something that I've always wanted to do, just never had the guts to do it. So this last week was the "free week" of classes before they actually start. Wednesday we had Yogalates which is a combination of yoga and pilates. I have never attempted either form of exercise before and it was actually really not that hard, but definitely worked my body! I liked it, it's at 6:30 in the morning and it's really a nice way to start the day. So the other class that I signed up for was called Power Pump and I really had no idea what it was all about (I figured maybe a cardio class with a little lifting mixed in). Usually the class meets at 9:30 on Saturday mornings but for the free week it met at 9:30 on Thursday morning. Yep, that's right, Thursday morning, as in the morning after I did yogalates for the first time. So I was already sore from Yogalates and after about 10 minutes of power pump (which I found out is just a new name for their weight lifting class) I felt like I was going to die. I kept up with it even though I felt like a moron and was really proud of myself for getting through an hour of this.

So it's now Sunday afternoon and I can still barely walk down the stairs or itch my nose due to the intense soreness of my quads and triceps. I have definitely thought of dropping the power pump class for this reason, however, I realize that this is the exact reason I NEED this class. I could go to the gym every day and do cardio, I don't mind it at all, it's the weight training that I hate, and left to my own free will I don't do it, and when I do I don't put hardly any effort towards it.

So, tomorrow starts weight watchers, and a more serious work out routine. My main goal this time around is not the number on the scale, I don't want that to be my main focus. I want to feel better in the clothes I wear and I want to fit into THE dress by the time we go to Vegas in February (not an unreasonable goal considering February is still 6 months away and I should only need to lose about 10 pounds to fit in the dress). I also realized that I would like to lose about 15 pounds and the classes at the gym run for 15 weeks so I think it would be neat to do a 15 pounds in 15 weeks goal, but again I don't want to focus on the numbers so we'll see...

I'll check in tomorrow!

It's been a while....

Ok so it's been a while, and the one person (hi mel!) that actually reads this probably doesn't even check it anymore due to my lack of posts.

Anywho, today is a weird day. It's dad's b-day, so it basically sucks. How am I dealing with it? I'm not...I'm pretending it's just another boring day at work. Mom asked me this morning if I wanted to help her plant the herb garden tonight (that's what we did last year for dad) and I said no (she knows I didn't get as much out of it last year as she did).

It made me feel really bad to say know, but honestly, I don't want to do something that forces me to think about it. I'm not in denial, I just don't want to be sad, because I wouldn't be sad if he was here and frankly I don't think he gives a shit if I plant herbs or not.

On a bright side the fact that it's his birthday means that it's almost my birthday! Wahoo for getting old right??

Went to the mall today and bought myself another birthday present, a $10 jean skirt, and guess what, I'm going back after work and getting the other color too. Why the hell not??

This weekend was nice and long and relaxing, just what I wanted it to be. I don't even remember which day every thing happened, but I know I did the following at somepoint:

* Went to the zoo with Mel and Cole (so much fun!)
* Went out in St. Pizzy with Nic, Josh, and Lyndsey (good times, stayed out way too late but what the hell)
* Got a real bed (well sort of) for Nic's house (can't wait to sleep on that next weekend!)
* Watched a shit load of TV and ate a shit load of bad (read: amazingly fat filled) food!

So all in all, life's been good.

Thursday

I woke up thinking today was Friday...that was a dissapointment to say the least...

Went to bed with a headache, woke up with a headache...good times...

Hopefully the day can only get better from here on out...

Got up and worked out this morning (after a big fight inside my head, "stay in bed", "go work out"...and on and on.

Gotta get to work...exciting stuff huh?

Day Three...moment of truth

So...I got on the scale this morning. We've been working on our relationship for a few days now and I think it's paying off! I lost 1.8 pounds this week (more than stupid Dan from Biggest Loser mind you!) and I'm feeling pretty darn good about that!

Today's going good. Nothing super stressful at work, getting stuff done which is nice.

Welp, gotta go...tryin me out some acupuncture today...have I mentioned I'm afraid of needles? Yeah...great

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Day 2, take 2

The rest of the day went GREAT! lot's of water (and I mean LOTS of water), good eats, and lots more water.

We'll see what tomorrow holds!

Day 2

Day two is off to a good start! Woke up this morning and went to the gym...I'm now one of "those". I worked out, showered, and got ready for work. It actually works out really well for me on Tuesdays and Thursdays since I don't have to be at work until 10. I don't have to wake up horribly early (ok not early at all) and have plenty of time to work out and get ready. I also get to read when I'm on the eliptical which is pretty much the only time I read any more so all in all it's a nice way to start my morning!

Stayin' positive is the name of the game. Tonight Biggest Loser is on, which is always good motivation and tomorrow is weigh-in number 1 for this girl.

Biggest temptation so far: going to Chipotle yesterday and just getting an iced tea...I think I can do this no eating out for two week thing, but by far I am going to miss Chipotle the most.

Monday, March 24, 2008

Day 1

Day 1...not too bad...

Started off strong, good attitude good eating.  Then a patient brought us brownies...so what did I do, I ate 2 of them...

I felt AWEFUL

But then I went and worked out and now I don't feel so bad.  I'm not going to eat much for dinner.

All in all, not a horrible day, not a great day.

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Last Supper

Well tomorrow's the big day!

This weekend was good and bad...On Friday night we went to Magianno's for dinner which was AMAZING, then we went and got Joey's birthday present and I bought my last article of clothing for a while.  Then on Saturday we went and worked out and then went [healthy] grocery shopping.  Today was Easter and I ate like a pig, but tomorrow it starts.

Plan for this week:
1) Stick to eating right, track EVERYTHING on weight watchers.
2) Work out (Monday after work, Tuesday and Thursday before work, and Saturday or Sunday)
3) DRINK LOTS OF WATER!
4) Stay positive! and be excited about this!

F.E.D. U.P.

It's true, my friendship with the scale is a tricky one.  We were worst enemies for many many years, until I decided to make nice with it a few years ago.  Since then (winter 2005?) we've had quite the roller coaster relationship!

Most recently?  I joined weight watchers online in January 2007 and lost 35 pounds over the course of about 10 months...awesome right?  Right.  Until the holidays came along.  I got lazy, it really has nothing to do with the holidays except that they were my excuse.  I told myself that in January I would get back on track, and I did for about 3 days.

Basically at this point I'm F.E.D. U.P.

I'm done being lazy, I'm sick of hating the scale, I want to be friends with it again!

So we had a talk this morning, me and the scale.  She told me what she needs me to do to make this relationship work:

1)  Stop eating out, cold turkey.  2 weeks of NO eating out, after that, add it back in but only "guiltless grills" and salads.

2) Get off your @$$.  Join the gym again.  As much as I hate spending money on something I can do outside for free, I find I do much better when I'm paying money for something (like that weight watchers subscription that I haven't used in 3 months??)

3) Get back online.  Weight watchers online that is.

So, there it is.  It's a give and take relationship.  I give her what she needs, she gives me a ton of satisfaction.

Now, I also need personal motivation to make this work.  My motivation?  NO NEW CLOTHES UNTIL I'VE LOST 10 POUNDS.  For real.  This is quite possibly one of the best motivational tools for me.  I buy clothes like they're going out of style (no pun intended).  I do it without even realizing it.  I know I will feel much better in the clothes I buy if I look better in them.

So that's it.  Sounds easy right? HA!  But I can do it, I've done it before, I'll do it again.
